HETAUDA: A centenarian man has actively participated in the local level by-election by casting his ballot at a polling station in Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City-12, located in the Makawanpur district. This noteworthy event is part of the ongoing electoral process aimed at filling 41 vacant seats across various local levels, including the post of ward chairperson in Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City ward no 12.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Govinda Lamichhane, aged 102, exercised his voting rights at the Bishnu Jyoti Basic School polling station in Bhorle, ward no 12. His participation marks him as the oldest voter in this by-election, symbolizing the inclusive nature of the democratic process.
The by-election commenced at 7 am, with voters showing enthusiastic participation reported by Voting Officer Saroj Poudel. Among the 8,053 registered voters in the ward, a total of 4,223 had already cast their votes at the two polling stations by 1:00 pm, as informed by Officer Poudel. Moreover, voters continue
to queue up at both polling locations to ensure their voices are heard in this significant civic exercise.
