Dhaka: Police in separate raids on Friday and Saturday arrested four former police officers including a Deputy Inspector General (DIG). The arrests were part of a broader operation to detain individuals involved in ongoing investigations.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the arrestees are ex-DIG Molla Nazrul Islam and former Superintendents of Police (SPs) Asaduzzaman, Abdul Mannan, and Abul Hasnat. These individuals were apprehended based on their alleged involvement in multiple cases, highlighting serious charges that necessitated their detention.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Baharul Alam confirmed the arrests and stated that the former officers have been taken to the Detective Branch (DB) of police headquarters for further investigation. The operation underscores efforts to maintain accountability within the ranks of law enforcement.
