7th Int’l Invitational Rhino Gold Cup kicks off


The 7th edition of the International Invitational Rhino Gold Cup Football Competition is going to be kicked off at Koluwa of Nawalparasi Purba today.

Altogether 12 football teams including a team from India are vying in the sport event that is organized with an objective to raise awareness about conservation of one-horned rhino and environment.

Rhino Club’s President Doman Bhandari shared that the tournament aims at promoting sports and tourism.

Gandaki Province’s Minister for Social Development, Youth and Sports Bindu Kumar Thapa is scheduled to inaugurate the competition.

In the inaugural match, Hanami Club and Deshbhakta Football Club are competing. The winner of the tournament will take home a cash prize Rs 800,000.

Attractive prizes are in the list for best players, highest goal scorer, best goal keeper, best defender, best striker and coaches, President Bhandari said.

A football club from Manipur of India will compete in the event, it was said. The competition will run through October 30.
