President Appoints Niroula, Pandey as Supreme Court Judges.


Kathmandu: President Ramchandra Paudel has appointed Nripa Dhwoj Niroula and Nityananda Pandey as judges of the Supreme Court (SC).

According to National News Agency Nepal, the Office of the President announced that the Head of State made the appointments today. Earlier, the Parliamentary Hearing Committee on November 8 unanimously endorsed the nominations of Niroula, the chief judge of the Patan High Court, and Pandey, the chief judge of the High Court, Tulasipur, as SC judges.

Spokesperson for the Office of the President, Shailaja Regmi Bhattarai, stated that the President, on the recommendations of the Judicial Council, appointed the two SC judges under Article 129 (2) of the Constitution. As per constitutional provisions, following the approval of the recommendations, the President shall appoint the SC judge(s).
