Grants Preferred Over Loans Under BRI, States NC President Deuba.

Janakpurdham: Nepali Congress President and former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has voiced his preference for grants over loans under China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). During an event to unveil a statue of democratic movement leader Arvind Thakur in Lohana, Janakpurdham Sub-metropolitan City-23, Deuba shared his views with mediapersons at Janakpurdham airport.

According to National News Agency Nepal, Deuba expressed that it is not prudent to take loans under the BRI, suggesting that grants would be more suitable at the present time. He highlighted Nepal’s friendly ties with China and expressed optimism that Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s upcoming visit to China would serve to further strengthen bilateral relations.

In addition, Deuba commented on the political landscape, noting that the Nepali Congress alone cannot effect leadership changes in the Madhesh government without coalition discussions. He stressed the importance of unity within the Congress to navigate the political challenges ahead.
