Lalitpur: Minister for Labour, Employment and Social Security Sharat Singh Bhandari emphasized the government’s commitment to integrating people with disabilities into both public and private sector employment opportunities. In his address at the National Convention of Youth with Disabilities, organized by the Blind Youth Association in Lalitpur, Minister Bhandari highlighted the importance of inclusion and equitable society.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Minister Bhandari underscored the significance of the convention in recommending policy reforms to the government. He assured that the government is prepared to formulate policies, allocate budgets, and develop programs aimed at benefiting individuals with disabilities. He described the event as the initial phase in the ongoing struggle for rights and recognition.
Minister Bhandari reiterated the government’s dedication to advancing employment management, skill development, and the general welfare of youth with disabilities. He mentioned plans t
o amend and manage the Labour Act and Employment Act, focusing on linking people with disabilities to employment in the public-private sector. This will include skill development training tailored to employer demands and connecting job seekers with potential employers.
The convention, which serves as a platform for policy advocacy and awareness, was inaugurated by Speaker of the House of Representatives Devraj Ghimire, marking a significant step towards inclusivity and empowerment for individuals with disabilities.
