Chuadanga: Cheques for Taka 35 lakh were handed over to the families of seven victims of road accidents in the district today. Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Zahirul Islam presented the cheques to the families during a function at the conference of the deputy commissioner, where he served as the chief guest.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the cheques were distributed to the families of Ijaz Raja, Tanbir Aziz, Shahidul Islam, Anjera Khatun, Nayem Rahman, Maruf Imtiaz Mahir, and Abdur Rashid. These individuals tragically lost their lives in separate road accidents in various areas of the district.
The distribution event was organized by BRTA, with the presence of BRTA Chuadanga Circle Assistant Director (Eng.) Md. Jahangir Alam and General Secretary of Chuadanga Road Transport Owners Association A.K.M. Moin Uddin Mukta, among others.
BRTA Assistant Director Md. Jahangir Alam explained the process for families of road accident victims to receive compensation. He stated that if someone dies in a road accident in the district, their nominee must apply using a specific form. “After verifying the application, we send it to the Dhaka office. Within two months, the nominee will receive a cheque. If killed, the nominee will receive Taka 5 lakh, and if injured, Taka 3 lakh,” he added.
