15 Awami League Members Arrested in Thakurgaon Over Political Unrest


Thakurgaon: Police during different drives have arrested 15 Awami League (AL) leaders and activists as they were accused in different cases based on the recent political situation and sabotage in the district. The arrests were made during coordinated raids conducted on Saturday night across various locations within the five upazilas of Thakurgaon district.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the individuals taken into custody include Md Shamsul Haque, aged 50, Shahadat Ali, 47, Md. Mehedi Hasan, 25, Md Abdul Awal, 52, Ritwik Roshan Rabbi, 20, Md. Sagar Ali, 22, Md Taherul Islam, 48, Md. Sadequl Islam, 40, Md. Swadhin Basak, 30, Md. Lutfar Rahman, 40, Md Sajidur Rahman Sajid, 36, Md. Joynul Haque, 43, Md. Shahed Ali, 55, Md. Jinnah Ali, 36, and Md. Mahabub Alam alias Budhu Alam, 45.



The police operations are part of an effort to address the rising political tensions in the region, which have escalated into acts of sabotage. The authorities have been focusing on maintaining law and order, particularly as the district experiences heightened political activities. The recent arrests are a continuation of these efforts, aimed at curbing any potential disruptions to public safety and stability.
