Tangail: Two people were killed in a road accident in the Jokarchar area under Kalihati upazila of the district today. The deceased were identified as Abdul Halim, 35, of Kurshabenu village, and Abdur Razzak Akand, 54, of Gobindapur village of the upazila.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the accident occurred on the Dhaka-Tangail-Jamuna Bridge highway around 11:30 am. A bus hit a battery-run auto van from behind, resulting in the immediate death of the van driver and its passenger, as informed by Taherul Islam, sub-inspector of Jamuna Bridge East Police Station.
Following the incident, police recovered the bodies and seized the bus involved in the accident. However, the bus driver and his assistant managed to flee the scene, avoiding immediate capture.
