Initiatives Taken to Diversify Jute Products: Seikh Bashir Uddin

Khulna: Commerce and Textiles and Jute Adviser Sheikh Bashir Uddin has announced that initiatives are underway to diversify jute products in an effort to harness the potential of jute. He made this statement while inaugurating a three-day jute goods fair at the BSCIC regional office premises.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the fair is organized under the slogan “Let’s come and change the country, change the world.” The Department of Jute and the Jute Diversification Promotion Centre (JDPC) have jointly organized this event. Bashir Uddin emphasized the government’s commitment to organizing diversified jute fairs across the country. These fairs aim to provide training to small jute entrepreneurs and ensure the availability of cost-effective raw materials for jute goods.

The initiative also seeks to facilitate the exchange of ideas between jute entrepreneurs and consumers. Bashir Uddin encouraged entrepreneurs to innovate unique jute products, which would create opportunities for value addition and commercial viability by transforming jute into practical household items.

Director General of the Department of Jute, Jinat Ara, spoke at the event as a special guest, while Divisional Commissioner of Khulna, M Feroz Sarker, presided over the meeting. Earlier, the textiles and jute adviser visited various stalls at the fair, discussing the potential of jute products with entrepreneurs. The fair, featuring a total of 30 stalls, will be open to visitors from 4 pm to 8 pm until tomorrow.
