Election Only Way to Institutionalise Democracy: Mirza Fakhrul


Thakurgaon: BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today emphasized the necessity of elections as the sole method to institutionalize democracy in the country. He asserted that there is no alternative to democracy and highlighted the importance of elections in advancing the nation. Mirza Fakhrul made these remarks while serving as the chief guest at the inauguration of the Zia Memorial Football Tournament, organized by the local BNP, at Thakurgaon District School Boro Math this afternoon.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Mirza Fakhrul expressed concerns over the past 15 years of what he described as a tyrannical regime that has negatively impacted the country, including its sports and cultural sectors. He acknowledged the efforts of Tarique Rahman, who, along with renowned sportsperson Aminul Haque, initiated this football tournament which is set to continue nationwide.



The event also featured addresses by BNP Dhaka North city unit convener and central sports affairs secretary Aminul Haque, central rural development and cooperatives affairs secretary Farhad Hossain Azad, district BNP general secretary and central executive committee member Mirza Foysal Amin, former national team footballer Syed Rumman Bin Wali Sabbir, and Thakurgaon city BNP president Shariful Islam Sharif as special guests.



Mirza Fakhrul inaugurated the tournament by releasing colorful balloons and festoons. He shared a personal moment, reflecting on the field that holds significant memories from his childhood, adolescence, and youth.
