Drug Trafficker Tunnel Found Between Spanish Enclave and Morocco: Police

Ceuta: A suspected tunnel used for trafficking hashish has been discovered between Ceuta, a Spanish enclave, and Morocco. The police revealed that the underground gallery, which spans several dozen meters and reaches a depth of 12 meters, was found during a warehouse search in an industrial area of Ceuta. This small territory is located on Morocco’s northern Mediterranean coast, directly opposite mainland Spain.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the tunnel is described as a narrow construction reinforced with wood, likely used to transport drugs between Morocco and Spain, according to a statement from the Civil Guard police force. Spanish media reported the tunnel as being at least 50 meters long, extending just inside Moroccan territory. However, authorities have not yet determined where it ends, suggesting it could be even longer.

The tunnel’s discovery occurred during Operation Hades, a crackdown targeting criminal gangs accused of smuggling hashish into Spain via lorries. As a result of this ope
ration, 14 people have been arrested over the past three weeks, including two policemen. Additionally, authorities have seized 6,000 kilos of the drug, further highlighting the scale of the trafficking operation.
