Canberra: The Association of Nepali Origin (ANO) has launched its Australia chapter, appointing Dambar Dhungel, who is of Nepali speaking Bhutanese origin, as its chair.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the chapter’s leadership includes Dinesh Kathayat as vice-chair, Gagan Bidari as general secretary, Raj Kumar Shrestha as assistant general-secretary, and Leela Bhandari as treasurer. The committee also comprises members Nikesh Sharma, Ram Khatiwada, Yubaraj Sharma, Hari Pokharel, Khagendra Acharya, Ashika Rai, Bijaya Basnet, Sarita Dhakal, Bhawani Dhakal, Pushpa Acharya, and Govinda Gautam.
CM Bhattarai, General Secretary of the ANO International Committee, noted that the organization includes Nepali speaking individuals from Bhutan, Myanmar, India, and other countries. The ANO’s mission is to preserve Nepali arts and cultures globally.
During the announcement of the ANO Australia chapter, Nepal’s Ambassador to Australia, Chitra Lekha Yadav, encouraged the Nepali speaking community to actively contribute to Nepal’s prosperity.
