Pokhara: Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung, has asserted that literature is a means of change. Inaugurating the 12th Nepal Literature Festival organized by Bookworm Foundation in Pokhara, Minister Gurung shared that literature is a strong medium of expression.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Minister Gurung mentioned that the literature festival organized by Bookworm Foundation is a multi-dynamic programme as well as completely new and creative compared to others, adding that discussions are held on various issues related to society, economy, culture, and politics. He emphasized that such programmes contribute to social transformation.
Minister Gurung noted his personal journey of being attracted to revolution and change after reading ‘Ghumne Mechmathi Andho Manchhe’, a poetry creation by Bhupi Sherchan. He stressed the importance of attracting the new generation to research and creativity, highlighting the need to develop a reading culture in the country.
Furthermore, Minister Gurung remarked that such festivals could promote touristic activities in Pokhara. The festival, which is set to run for four days at Barahighat ground of Fewa Lake, commenced with a talk delivered by Professor and Economist Mahendra P Lama.
The event will see participation from more than 200 litterateurs, politicians, writers, artists, and journalists from Nepal and other countries. The festival will feature over 51 discussion sessions, interactions, musical performances, and other creative events.
