Kathmandu: Farmers are happy with the snowfall that has taken place in the upper region of the district Snowfall has been occurring from the district headquarters Chame to Upper Manang.
According to National News Agency Nepal, farmer Yangdung Gurung stated that the snowfall will benefit the crops. The farmers rely on snow for farming and face challenges when there is no timely snowfall. A delay in snowfall affects proper irrigation, as cold temperatures cause the water in rivers, streams, and lakes to freeze, complicating irrigation efforts.
Since the water freezes at the source, utilizing alternative irrigation options becomes difficult. Farmer Serap Bista mentioned that the delayed snowfall will assist in apple cultivation, as well as vegetable and food crop production.
Meanwhile, the region has experienced an increase in tourist arrivals following the snow’s appearance in the mountains.
