Newly Appointed KU VC Takes Oath Before Prime Minister


Kathmandu: Newly appointed Vice-Chancellor of Kathmandu University, Prof Dr Achyut Prasad Wagle, has taken the oath of office and secrecy before Prime Minister and Chancellor of Kathmandu University, KP Sharma Oli. The ceremony was held at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers.



According to National News Agency Nepal, Vice-Chancellor Wagle took the oath of office and secrecy in the presence of several dignitaries. Chancellor Oli appointed Dr Wagle to the post on Monday, following Clause 13 (4) of the Kathmandu University Act, 2048. The government had previously formed a three-member search committee to recommend candidates for the Vice-Chancellor position at the university.



The event was attended by notable figures, including Minister for Education, Science and Technology, Bidya Bhattarai, PM Oli’s Chief Advisor Bishnu Prasad Rimal, and Chief Secretary Eaknarayan Aryal, among others. Prof Dr Achyut Prasad Wagle had been serving as the Acting Vice-Chancellor and Registrar of Kathmandu University prior to this appointment.
