Kathmandu: The Ministry of Urban Development has reported expenditures amounting to Rs 12.24 billion, equivalent to 17.93 percent of the allocations, till the third quarter of the current fiscal year 2081-82 BS (2024-2025). Information about this was shared at a press meet here today.
According to National News Agency Nepal, a total of Rs 91.38 billion was allocated for the Ministry this fiscal year. Of the total allocations, Rs 4.42 billion was earmarked for current expenditures, while Rs 63.83 billion was designated for capital expenditures. So far, 25.23 percent of the budget under the current expenditures has been spent, whereas 17.43 percent of the capital expenditure has been utilized.
In the current fiscal year, the Ministry of Urban Development (Federal Office) planned to undertake 3,716 new programmes. Tenders have been called for a total of 1,623 programmes, with contracts signed for 1,098 and the completion of 124. Among the remaining 2,093 programmes, 288 have been proposed as multi-year programmes.
Narayan Mainali, the Ministry’s spokesperson, reported that out of the 1,459 old programmes (carry-over and approved as multi-year), 280 programmes have been completed so far in the current fiscal year. Additionally, out of the target to construct 330 suspension bridges, 162 have been completed to date.
Since the opening of the local Dharahara (the Bhimsen tower) for visitors on Constitution Day (September 19) this year, over 130,000 people have visited it, contributing to revenue collections of Rs 2.37 billion.
