Gaindakot: Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak stated on Saturday that there is no viable alternative to a republic system. Speaking at a program in Gaindakot of Nawalparasi (Bardaghat-Susta Purva), he refuted claims that the republic period has yielded nothing substantial.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Home Minister Lekhak acknowledged existing challenges such as unemployment and poor infrastructure in economic, education, and development sectors. He admitted that economic growth has not met expectations but insisted that it is incorrect to view the country as solely burdened with challenges. He highlighted various accomplishments achieved despite these difficulties and emphasized that efforts are ongoing to address them.
Lekhak emphasized the government’s commitment to identifying and leveraging key development potentials within the country. He called for collective efforts to advance along the path of development and cautioned against engaging in false narratives about the progress made during the republic period. He argued that neither totalitarianism nor monarchy could serve as alternatives to democracy and republic.
Additionally, Home Minister Lekhak pointed out that significant achievements have been made in sectors such as healthcare and education since the establishment of the republic. He stressed the importance of focusing on job creation to ensure continued progress in these areas.
