Dang: Minister for Health and Population Pradip Paudel has stated that the primary priority for the people is the provision of health care services. During a program organized by the Nepali Congress in the Dang district, he emphasized the necessity of establishing a contributory health insurance system to meet the public’s demand for health care services.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Minister Paudel highlighted that the government cannot sustain the insurance service solely through its own investment. He underscored the importance of contributions from the private sector to support this initiative. The Health Minister proposed that the health insurance scheme could be enhanced by allocating 50 percent of the total tax collected from tobacco products and alcohol, alongside a two percent contribution from employees working in the government sector and other institutions.
Minister Paudel expressed the government’s rationale for proposing a contributory health insurance system, noting that the amount allocated by the government for health insurance has increased significantly, at least doubling.
