Aurahi: Aurahi Rural Municipality Chair Shivaji Yadav and former ward chair Dilip Kumar Yadav have been released on bail on Friday. They were arrested for their involvement in bulldozing the house of a Dalit man to hold a Mahayagya in the Rural Municipality-5.
According to National News Agency Nepal, District Court Judge Bidur Kafley issued an order to release them on a bail of Rs 100,000 each. A hearing was conducted after a case was registered against them for crimes related to caste-based discrimination and untouchability.
The house of Deepak Malik was demolished on February 22 reportedly to hold a Mahayagya. Shivaji Yadav of the Janata Samajbadi party, who was also the chair of the Mahayagya organizing committee, and Dilip Kumar Yadav, the committee secretary, were arrested on March 21.
Meanwhile, Bajrangi Baba, the main priest of the Mahayagya, who ordered the use of a dozer to demolish the house of Deepak, is absconding.
