Kathmandu: Minister for Women, Children and Senior Citizens, Nawalkishor Saha Sudi, has said the State needs to be further serious to enforce women’s rights. Addressing the concluding session of the week-long training on ‘gender-responsive research and media’ on Friday, Minister Sudi expressed concern over the escalating violence against women in Nepali society. He emphasized that women deserve access to education, health, and opportunities in state agencies, highlighting the need to end violence against women.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Minister Sudi reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring women’s rights and eliminating discrimination and violence against them. He noted that this commitment would be pursued in collaboration with civil society organizations.
During the event, Chief District Officer of Saptari, Bhola Dahal, and Superintendent of Police, Dhakendra Khatiwada, discussed the role of Nepal police in reducing incidents of violence against women in the district.
