Kathmandu: Health Minister of the Bagmati province government, Kiran Thapa, announced that the province government would assume responsibility for providing medical treatment to helpless citizens residing in rest houses seeking support. He made this statement during the seven-day Shreemad Bhagawat Gyan and Bigyan Mahayagya organized by the Human Welfare Society Bhaktapur at Radheradhe in Madhyapur Thimi.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Minister Thapa emphasized the need for the province government to allocate land for the construction of an ashram. He committed to ensuring that orphans and helpless citizens living in various ashrams in Bagmati Province receive medical treatment by integrating them into the health insurance system.
Minister Thapa further stated, “In the next fiscal year’s budget, we will make arrangements to provide testing and treatment of such citizens free of cost by linking it with health insurance.” He acknowledged the efforts of the Human Welfare Society, which has been actively involved in rescuing and caring for patients with mental illnesses, orphans, and helpless citizens living on the streets in Bhaktapur since 2074 BS. He expressed a commitment to constructing the necessary infrastructure if the land is made available.
