Kathmandu: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has expressed determination to further deepen Nepal-India relations. PM Oli shared this commitment at a news conference organized at the VVIP Lounge of Tribhuvan International Airport upon his return from an official visit to Thailand.
According to National News Agency Nepal, PM Oli made this declaration during a meeting with his Indian counterpart, Narendra Modi, in Thailand. Both leaders attended the 6th Summit of the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC). PM Oli described the meeting as very fruitful and expressed his satisfaction with the discussions held.
PM Oli emphasized that an understanding had been reached to engage in dialogue to resolve any issues that may arise between the two countries. He noted, “This time, we have made an understanding to hold dialogue on any problems surfaced between the two countries and settle these.”
Responding to media queries, PM Oli stated, “This meeting was fruitful and I am very happy. I have learned from the conversation with Indian PM Narendra Modi that he is also happy.” He further mentioned that their discussions covered various aspects of mutual cooperation, including investment, trade, the multi-purpose Pancheshwor Project, and the irrigation facility in Dodhara Chandani from the Mahakali River.
PM Oli also shared that although the Indian PM would not be able to attend the Sagarmatha Sambaad in Nepal due to a prior engagement in Europe, high-level representatives from India would participate in the event.
On a different note, PM Oli addressed domestic issues, stating that the government would positively address the concerns raised by agitating teachers through dialogue. He assured that the teachers’ concerns would be settled amicably.
Additionally, PM Oli informed that the government had been conducting an impartial investigation into the Tinkune incident that occurred on March 28.
