Kathmandu: Nepali Congress General Secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa has advocated for the government to take calculated risks to boost the national economy. Speaking at the ‘Ncell Bahrakhari Golf and Economic Symposium’ organized by Bahrakhari Media Pvt. Ltd., Thapa highlighted the importance of fostering trust among private investors as a pathway to economic improvement.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Thapa, a former minister and current federal lawmaker, emphasized the necessity of open and transparent discussions across various fields to derive meaningful solutions to economic challenges. He remarked that while the government is striving to execute significant reforms, it is crucial for the private sector and citizens to trust these initiatives.
Thapa underscored the importance of focusing on infrastructure, information technology, software, and programming sectors. He called for government support for those making efforts within the country, urging leadership to take strategic initiatives to facilitate such endeavors.
He further pointed out the need for policy discussions with relevant bodies to address issues within the tax system. Additionally, Thapa opined that the governor of the Nepal Rastra Bank should be selected from a pool of qualified and competent economists, ensuring effective economic governance.
