Kathmandu: Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Arzu Rana Deuba announced that the ministry is working through a separate division to promote economic diplomacy. Addressing the 59th annual general meeting of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, she emphasized Nepal’s commitment to strengthening economic diplomacy to attract foreign investment and harness the country’s potential opportunities.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Dr Rana highlighted the need for collaboration between the government and the private sector to create a favorable investment climate to attract more foreign investment. She cited the recent BIMSTEC conference in Bangkok and the Prime Minister’s visit to China as instances where Nepal’s private sector interacted with international industrialists and businesspersons, who showed genuine interest in investing in Nepal.
Dr Rana expressed her dedication to attracting foreign investments through economic diplomacy, emphasizing Nepal’s investment potential in sectors such as energy, tourism, tourism infrastructure construction, and information technology. She urged for active support and cooperation from the private sector to realize these opportunities.
She further advocated for initiatives to encourage investors and promote entrepreneurship to bolster Nepal’s economic strength. Dr Rana underlined that the country’s strength is inherently tied to the strength of the private sector and stressed the government’s priority on collaboration with the private sector for national prosperity. She concluded by stating that the aspirations of Nepali people for economic development and progress could only be achieved through the active participation of the private sector.
