Kathmandu: Bhuwan Singh Gurung has been elected as the President of Nepal Association of Foreign Employment Agencies (NAFEA). Gurung won the election by defeating Naresh Gelal by a margin of 61 votes, securing 428 votes compared to Gelal’s 367.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Gurung previously served as the Second Vice-president of NAFEA and is the Director of Gurung Management Pvt Ltd. In the same election, Mahesh Kumar Basnet was elected as the General Secretary, defeating Karna Raj Katuwal with 423 votes to 362.
Kunchha Dorje Dimdung and Dhanmaya Sinjali were elected as Secretary and Treasurer, respectively. Other elected members include Rekha Sharma, Krishna Dhakal, Bharat Sapkota, Ramkaji Bholan, Suvarna Lama, Hima Gurung, Rama Khadka, Devi Prasad Giri, Suman Raj Pandey, and Bidya Laxmi Bajracharya, as announced by Deepak Thapa, president of Nepal Democratic Foreign Employment Entrepreneurs Association.
NAFEA, representing 853 recruiting agencies in Nepal, focuses on ensuring safe migration and defending the rights of workers and member organizations.
