Kathmandu: CPN (Maoist Centre) Chair and former Prime Minister, Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, has urged the government to arrange for the rescue and safe settlement of residents in Tilgaun, located in Namkha Rural Municipality-6, who face the threat of landslides. He emphasized the urgency of the situation and called for immediate government action through a social media post, highlighting the need to prevent loss of life and property in the Humla region.
According to National News Agency RSS, Leader Dahal has also directed his party members to take necessary precautions and mobilize for rescue efforts. He stressed that while discussions on the rising risks of glacial lake outbursts due to climate change are essential, it is equally important to conduct scientific studies and prepare for disasters in the country’s remote areas.
Dahal pointed out that mudslides resulting from the glacial lake outburst have endangered the settlement. The landslides have caused significant damage to the water supply infrastructure, roads, and bridges in the area. He noted that 33 local citizens are currently awaiting relief and rescue, underscoring the severity of the situation.
