Nepal Offers Free Visas to Foreign Students

Kathmandu: The government of Nepal has announced a groundbreaking initiative to provide free visas to foreign students who wish to pursue their studies in the country. This significant move was revealed in the budget for the fiscal year 2082/83, presented by Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel in the federal parliament.

According to National News Agency Nepal, this initiative marks the first instance of visa-free arrangements being made specifically for foreign students coming to study in Nepal. The policy aims to encourage an influx of international students, fostering a more diverse educational environment and boosting the appeal of Nepal’s universities on the global stage.

The government’s decision aligns with a broader strategy to attract foreign students to various universities across the nation. By removing financial barriers associated with visa procurement, Nepal hopes to position itself as a competitive destination for international education.
