Govt Initiates Upgrades for Public Health Labs to Enhance Accessibility: Health Minister Paudel

Kathmandu: Minister for Health and Population, Pradip Paudel, announced that the government is actively working to expand the capacity of all public health laboratories to improve access to lab facilities for everyone. This initiative was discussed during a health camp organized by the Nepal Press Union on its 34th anniversary.

According to National News Agency Nepal, Minister Paudel highlighted efforts to eliminate the need to send samples abroad for lab tests, stating that many tests previously sent overseas can now be conducted domestically. The budget has been adjusted to ensure that citizens no longer have to travel abroad for lab testing. Furthermore, the government aims to enhance the treatment system and ensure transparency in the procurement of health equipment. Outdated equipment is being repaired and reused by the National Innovation Centre.

During the event, National Assembly member Padma Pariyar emphasized the benefits of such health camps for journalists who often lack time due to their field reporting duties. He also stressed the importance of addressing the needs of differently-abled journalists.

Maheshwor Gautam, the Kathmandu chapter chair of the Press Union, stated that the health camp was organized to provide health checkups for working journalists. Specialist doctors from various hospitals in the Kathmandu Valley participated in the event, offering their services to the journalists.
