HoR Meeting Postponed Until Thursday Noon

Kathmandu: The meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) has been adjourned until the upcoming Thursday. The meeting of the Lower House was initially summoned for 1:00 pm today. It was then rescheduled for 3:15 pm after failing to forge a consensus among the parties for the meeting, according to the Parliament Secretariat. The meeting also could not convene at the rescheduled time, leading to the postponement of the House meeting until 1:00 pm on Thursday, added the Secretariat.

According to National News Agency Nepal, the Secretariat issued a notice today to officially notify about the postponement and summon the next meeting at 1:00 PM on the upcoming Thursday. The opposition parties, including CPN (Maoist Centre), Rastriya Swatantra Party, and CPN (Unified Socialist), among others, have been obstructing the Parliament. They are demanding the resignation of Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak and the formation of a parliamentary or judicial inquiry committee to probe the irregularities and human trafficking issues relating to the visit visa scam.

Deliberation on the newly unveiled budget was on today’s agenda for the meeting. It may be noted that the incumbent government introduced an annual budget of Rs 1,964 billion for the fiscal year 2025/26 on May 29. The House could not hold a meeting last Tuesday either, as the protesting parliamentarians remained steadfast in their demands.
