PABSON and N-PABSAN Demand Revisions to School Education Bill

Kathmandu: School operators have demanded correction on some provisions of the School Education Act. At a demonstration organised by Private and Boarding Schools’ Organisation Nepal (PABSON) and National Private and Boarding Schools’ Association Nepal (N-PABSAN) at Maitighar Mandala on Thursday, the participants had carried ply cards reading ‘Private school education the first choice of parents’, ‘contribution of private school, building strong economy’, ‘Why private school should always have to face discrimination’ among others.

According to National News Agency Nepal, PABSON and N-PABSAN have outlined specific demands, including the removal of the term ‘Full scholarship’ from the bill and the elimination of the provision requiring schools registered under the company act to operate as ‘non-profitable’. The school operators argue for autonomy in scholarship distribution, advocating for the establishment of a transparent committee to manage the scholarships.

The Education, Science and Technology Committee under the House of Representatives has passed the School Education Bill on Thursday.
