Kathmandu: Minister for Education, Science and Technology, Raghuji Pant, has emphasized the importance of connecting the new generation to literature as a means to amplify voices for social justice. He expressed concern that currently, economic interests are overshadowing the global pursuit of justice.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Minister Pant made these remarks during a program organized to present the Sahitya Sandhya Award. He highlighted that literature serves as a creative medium to express dissent against injustice and stressed the importance of engaging the younger generation with literary networks to foster cultural, ideological, and creative movements.
Minister Pant also voiced his concerns regarding the declining interest in the humanities, noting a shift in education from the pursuit of knowledge to a focus on science. He argued for the necessity of integrating knowledge with science to cultivate a thoughtful and industrious workforce.
During the event, five individuals were honored with the Sahitya Sandhya Award for their contributions to education, health, and social service.
