Government Emphasizes Investment-Friendly Environment in Energy Sector


Kathmandu: Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Deepak Khadka has stated that the government is working to create an investment-friendly environment in the energy sector. In a meeting at the ministry concerning the ‘Sudurpaschim Province Investment and Development Conference’ scheduled for November 17 and 18 in Dhangadhi, Minister Khadka highlighted that the Energy Ministry is prioritizing policy reform for the sector’s development.



According to National News Agency Nepal, Director General of the Electricity Development Department, Jiwachha Mandal, reported that there are currently 108 hydropower projects with a combined capacity of 8,241 megawatts under various stages of progress in Sudurpaschim Province.



Chief Minister of Sudurpashchim Province, Kamal Bahadur Shah, also addressed the event, emphasizing that the investment conference aims to foster development and prosperity in Sudurpaschim. He urged participation in the conference, stating, “The investment conference is not only focused on investment, but we are also considering what can be done for the country in the coming days; we are sincerely working towards the development of the province and providing employment.”
