Kathmandu: Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has announced that significant efforts are underway to fully empower the Consumer Court. At an interaction program organized by the Nepali Congress (NC) today, Lekhak emphasized the government’s commitment to strengthening the Consumer Court.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Minister Lekhak highlighted that the Consumer Court is actively performing its duties and that initiatives have been launched to enhance its authority. He stressed the importance of prioritizing consumer rights. In addition, Lekhak addressed concerns regarding the shortage of chemical fertilizers and the reduction of subsidies for sugarcane farmers, noting that these issues have captured his attention.
Minister Lekhak also discussed the recent cholera outbreak in Birgunj, stating that a decision was made to deploy health workers from all three security bodies through the Ministry of Health to control the disease’s spread. Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Ajaya Kumar Chaurasiya, who also spoke at the event, affirmed that the Consumer Court is dedicated to protecting consumer rights and welfare. He encouraged consumers to seek legal recourse if goods are sold at exorbitant prices.
