Voice Raised for Correction in School Education Bill

Kathmandu: Teachers have raised their voice for correction in the School Education Bill. Expressing reservation on the bill, the school teachers staged a sit-in before the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP)’s office at Basundhara, Kathmandu on Tuesday.

According to National News Agency Nepal, the teachers, under the leadership of the Nepal Teachers’ Federation, have been conducting protest programmes as their demands have not been incorporated in the bill. The Federation is advocating for several issues, including the status of temporary teachers, school employees, child class teachers, and the promotion of permanent teachers. They are also calling for an increment in salary and grade, permanent internal competition, arrangements for retirement, the counting of temporary service, and the provision of salaries to be received when obtaining permanent status at a higher level.

Furthermore, the Federation has been vocal about concerns regarding conflict victims, private school teachers, the arrangement of head teachers, the teaching council, and departmental action. RSP’s general secretary, Kabindra Burlakoti, upon receiving the memorandum from the teachers, emphasized that the government should address the genuine demands of the teachers.
