Madhes Province Deserves 35 Percent of Total Revenue: Chair Thakur

Kathmandu: Chairman of the Loktantrik Samajbadi Party Nepal, Mahanth Thakur, has asserted that Madhes Province should receive at least 35 percent of the total revenue collected within the province. He emphasized this need during a press conference organized by his party on Tuesday, highlighting the importance of revenue distribution based on population size to ensure regional development.

According to National News Agency Nepal, Chairman Thakur expressed concerns over the current revenue allocation, questioning why Madhes Province receives a minimal share despite its population. He argued that securing 35 percent of the revenue would significantly aid in the region’s development efforts. Thakur also mentioned his recent visit with the Prime Minister to inspect drought-affected areas in the province, pointing out that promises such as the installation of 500 deep boring projects remain unfulfilled.

Chairman Thakur further noted that his party is actively raising awareness among the government and parliament about the drought and drinking water issues facing Madhes Province. The press conference was attended by senior party members, including Senior Vice Chair Jay Prakash Thakur and District Chair Sunil Jha, as part of a public awakening drive by the federal democratic front.
