Dhangadhi: Various speakers highlighted the need for improved coordination among the three tiers of government to drive governance reforms during a ‘governance reforms dialogue series’ organized by the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers (OPMCM) in Dhangadhi on Tuesday. They emphasized that service recipients would benefit from enhanced collaboration and coordination.
According to National News Agency Nepal, stakeholders recommended clarifying the powers assigned to the three tiers of government and addressing flaws in agencies such as the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA). They also suggested ensuring the impartial appointment of independent, qualified, and deserving individuals as office bearers of constitutional commissions and justices.
Additional recommendations included initiating reforms for administrative independence at the local level and enforcing the rule of law to address anomalies in local affairs. The speakers also called for civil service reforms to enhance the role, capacity, and accountability of various government levels, thereby strengthening federalism. Improvements in budget credibility and public procurement were also advised to achieve result-oriented public financial management.
