Kathmandu: Police today arrested an elderly person with over Rs 30 million in cash and gold from the Town Planning area at Gongabu of Kathmandu Metropolitan City-26. Superintendent of Police (SP) Apil Raj Bohora, Spokesperson at the District Police Range, Kathmandu, shared that the arrestee has been identified as Binod Shrestha, 76, originally from Gorkha district and currently staying at Gongabu. “The person has been nabbed in possession of around Rs 30 million and a huge quantity of gold.”
According to National News Agency Nepal, a cash counting machine has been used for counting the money confiscated since its quantity is very large. A team of police from Kathmandu Valley Police at Kamalpokhari and District Police Range had raided the site based on a tip-off that a large amount of illegally possessed money and gold were hidden there. Further investigation into the case is underway, police said.
