Sunsari: Nepali Congress President and former Prime Minister, Sher Bahadur Deuba, has called on the government to implement special programmes aimed at uplifting the Urau community. During his address at the Karma Pooja cultural festival held in Bhokraha Narsingh Municipality-4 of Sunsari, Deuba emphasized the importance of targeted efforts by the government to support the community’s development.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Deuba highlighted the role of local and provincial governments in actively planning initiatives for the Urau community’s upliftment. He stressed the need for cooperation and coordination among local, provincial, and federal governments to improve the educational opportunities available to the community. Deuba also announced the formation of the Nepal Uranw Association by the Nepali Congress as a dedicated effort to support the Urau community.
The event witnessed the presence of several prominent figures, including central members of the Nepali Congress, Gyanendra Bahadur Karki, Rajiv Koirala, and local leaders such as the mayor of Inaruwa Municipality, Kedar Bhandari, Chairman of Bhokraha Nar Singh Rural Municipality, Ajmal Akhtar Azad, Chairman of Kosi Rural Municipality, Aiyub Ansari, and Chairman of Harinagar Rural Municipality, Gafar Ansari, among others.
