Tanahun: An under-construction roadway in the Tanahun district has subsided as a result of continuous rainfall since Sunday. The affected motorway, which connects Lamagaon to Dulegauda in Shuklagandaki municipality, experienced subsidence at the Healthpost area.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Deputy Mayor of Shuklagandaki municipality, Khum Bahadur BK, stated that the roadway was under an upgrade process with funding assistance from the World Bank. The construction company responsible for the project has been instructed to conduct immediate repairs to address the subsidence.
A representative from the construction company, Shyamanand Gupta, has been tasked with ensuring the quality of the road construction. The project has achieved 45 percent progress since the contract was signed two years ago. The contract for the 14-kilometer long roadway upgrade was awarded at a cost of Rs 273.4 million.
Engineer Tarapati Bhattarai from the municipality office provided further details, indicating that the motorway, starting from Dulegauda of Shuklagandaki municipality-4, connects wards 8, 9, and 12.
