Pressure Increasing on International Flights via TIA

Kathmandu: With the beginning of the Dashain festival, pressure on the country’s air travel has increased. While there is pressure specifically on international flights, it remains normal on domestic routes, according to Tribhuvan International Airport.

According to National News Agency Nepal, the number of air passengers traveling from Kathmandu to various destinations during Dashain is significant. TIA spokesperson Rinji Sherpa indicated that the number of air travelers coming to Nepal from abroad is currently increasing, with some foreign airlines having added flights to accommodate the demand. Additionally, some airlines have opted to operate chartered flights. “Inbound international traffic is increasing. Domestic flights are normal as always,” spokesperson Sherpa stated, suggesting the possibility of increased domestic flights in the upcoming days.

Spokesperson Sherpa reported that there were 106 international flights on Saturday, comprising 54 arrivals and 52 departures, with 8,029 travelers arriving in Nepal through these flights. In contrast, there were 222 domestic flights, with 6,875 passengers departing from Kathmandu and 4,065 arriving.

On Sunday, the influx continued with 8,500 passengers arriving via 55 international flights, while 6,800 passengers departed. In the domestic sector, 7,887 passengers arrived in Kathmandu through 229 flights, with 5,505 departing.

In the domestic sector, 21 airline companies, including 12 helicopter companies, provide services. For international flights, 30 airlines, including three Nepali ones, are operational.
