Over 3,000 Disaster Survivor Families in Kavre Receive Initial Housing Grants


Kavre: Over 3,000 families affected by last year’s disaster in Kavre district have received the first tranche of funds from the government for constructing temporary housing. A total of Rs 7.79 million has been distributed among 3,128 disaster survivors across 13 local governments in the district.



According to National News Agency Nepal, while the government has released around Rs 40 million for the second installment, most local governments have not yet claimed these funds. Only two local governments, Bethanchok and Roshi Rural Municipalities, have requested and distributed the second installment to the survivors so far.



Deputy Chief District Officer Sudarshan Shrestha stated that the government had established a procedure to provide Rs 50,000 per household for temporary housing construction, divided into two installments of Rs 25,000 each. Bethanchok has allocated Rs 19.6 million and Roshi Rural Municipality Rs 46.1 million for this purpose.
