Dr Acharya Brings New Book, ‘Like Water on Leaves of Taro: A Himalayan Memoir’

Kathmandu: Writer and researcher Dr Tulasi Acharya has introduced a new book, ‘Like Water on Leaves of Taro: A Himalayan Memoir’. The memoir explores themes of intergenerational love, loss, and resilience, set against the backdrop of the US and Nepal.

According to National News Agency Nepal, Acharya, who initially studied English literature, has built a career in creative writing and specializes in women studies and public administration. He has been honored with the Homanath Subedi Diaspora Best Literary Award by the International Nepali Literary Society. The book’s publisher, The Colorful Crow Publishing, notes Acharya’s strong dedication to storytelling, cultural connection, and the written word.

In ‘Like Water on Leaves of Taro’, Acharya invites readers to experience mourning as both personal and communal, rooted in ancient tradition yet pertinent to today’s world. Acharya reflects, “The book ruminates how fragile the life is. Although death brings despair and loss in our life, it is also the moment forcing us to build hope and resilience. The importance of relatives, friends and relationship is further reinforced during the tragic moment. I believe the book helps readers understand such aspects of life.”

Dr Acharya has authored a dozen books, including short and long fictions, poems, and research works on gender studies. He currently teaches English at South Georgia State College, USA. The memoir is set to be released in the second week of October in the US. His first English novel was ‘Running from the Dreamland’, and his academic and creative works have been published by Routledge and Lexington Books, an imprint of Bloomsbury Academic.
