Nepal Police Provides Free Bus Service for Passengers Stranded by Landslide at Tuinkhola

Kathmandu: A free bus service has been operated for passengers stuck in a landslide at Tuinkhola under the Narayangadh-Muglin road section. The Nepal Police has initiated this service to assist those stranded due to the landslide over the past two days.

According to National News Agency Nepal, District Police Office Chief Deputy Superintendent Govinda Puri announced that the free bus service for passengers affected by the landslide began on Tuesday. Two school buses from the Police School Shantipur are being used for this purpose, targeting passengers who have reached the bridge at Panchkilo via the Tanahun route.

“We have launched a free bus service to Bharatpur for the stranded passengers who have arrived at the bridge at Panchkilo on foot or via the alternative Tanahun route,” Puri stated. The police have been dispatching a bus from Bharatpur to collect the stranded passengers at Panchkilo and transport them to Bharatpur.

Due to the road being blocked, passengers have had to walk and use an alternative route. Frequent landslides have complicated efforts to keep the road clear. It is anticipated that the landslide at Tuinkhola will be cleared by Friday. Although a previous landslide last Friday was cleared to reopen the road, another landslide occurred on Tuesday, blocking the road again. Efforts to clear the landslide have been ongoing since early morning.
