FIR of Families of Deceased Sent to Probe Commission

Kathmandu: The District Police Range Kathmandu has forwarded the First Information Report (FIR) registered by the families of those killed during the Gen Z Uprising to the ‘Commission of Inquiry into the Incidents of September 8-9 Protests’, stating that it is not within their jurisdiction. Superintendent of Police (SP) Pawan Bhattarai disclosed that 4-5 families of the deceased visited to register the FIR, demanding action against those responsible for the incidents, and were advised to approach the Commission instead.

According to National News Agency Nepal, Commission Chairperson Gauri Bahadur Karki confirmed that the commission has received the complaints and will proceed with the necessary processes following a detailed study. The Ministry of Home Affairs had announced on September 25 that the Commission would investigate the incidents surrounding the Gen Z protests.

The commission is tasked with receiving and analyzing information or petitions related to physical and human damages from the protests and providing recommendations for necessary actions. Formed to investigate and report on the damages that occurred in Kathmandu and other parts of the country during the protests on September 8-9, the commission began its work on September 25.
