Kathmandu: A report on the search and study of the land and other immovable property belonging to Tribhuvan University, 2081 has been released. The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology made the report public after the Cabinet meeting held two days earlier allowed the Ministry to release it via their website and proceed with implementing the report’s conclusions.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Education Minister Mahabir Pun stated that he had directed his subordinates to move forward after the Council of Ministers made the decision. The report was submitted to the government by committee member Mahendra Thapa in the presence of the former Minister for Education, Science and Technology, Bidya Bhattarai, along with TU officials. A five-member search and study committee was formed under the coordination of former secretary Sharada Prasad Trital on May 31, 2023.
The 179-page report documents the status of university lands at various locations, including Kirtipur, Naikap, Dhungeadda, and Patan. The report examines the use and misuse of the land, and the Ministry has recommended actions based on the findings.
