Kathmandu: Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Jagdish Kharel, has emphasized the importance of enlisting contract-based employees with the Social Security Fund (SSF). This initiative is aimed at ensuring that these employees receive benefits similar to those provided to government employees, who are entitled to pensions.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Minister Kharel made these remarks during a visit to the Minimum Remuneration Fixing Committee Office. He stated that the government is committed to including media personnel in the SSF scheme. The minister highlighted the necessity of integrating informal sector workers into the SSF framework, indicating that concrete policies and budget allocations would be made to achieve this goal.
Committee Chairperson Sangita Khadka noted that enrolling contract-based workers in the SSF would benefit thousands of employees.
