World Cup Qualifiers: Nepal Secures Historic Win Against Qatar


Kathmandu: Nepal defeated Qatar by five runs in the second match against Qatar under the Super Six of the ICC Men’s T-20 World Cup Asia and East Asia Pacific Qualifier underway in Oman. In the match held at Oman Cricket Academy Turf-1 in Al Amerat, Nepal registered its second consecutive victory in the Super Six.



According to National News Agency Nepal, Qatar managed just 142 runs in 19.5 overs against the target of 148 runs posted by Nepal. Sandeep Lamichhane played a pivotal role in Nepal’s victory by taking five wickets, while Nandan Yadav and Dipendra Singh Airee contributed by taking two and one wickets, respectively.



Earlier, Nepal achieved a narrow victory against the United Arab Emirates by one run in their first match of the Super Six. Prior to this, Nepal secured its place in the Super Six as the winner of Group ‘B’, having defeated Kuwait and Japan in the group stage.



The Nepali squad includes captain Rohit Kumar Paudel, along with players Dipendra Singh Airee, Ashif Sheikh, Kushal Bhurtel, Sandeep Jora, Kushal Malla, Gulshan Kumar Jha, Sompal Kami, Nandan Yadav, Mohammad Adil Alam, and Sandeep Lamichhane.
