Kakarvitta: The Kakarvitta check point along the Nepal-India border in Jhapa witnessed the imports of petroleum products worth over Rs 4.48 billion in the first three months of the current fiscal 2082-83 BS (2025-26) that commenced in mid-July. The imported petroleum products include petrol, diesel, cooking gas (liquefied petroleum gas), avian turbine fuel (ATF), and kerosene.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the imports have increased by 1.30 percent compared to the corresponding period last fiscal year, as stated by Mechi Customs Office’s information officer, Ishwor Kumar Humagain. The increased quantity of fuel imports has also led to a 3.20 percent rise in revenue collection from the petro products, amounting to Rs 68.09 million. The total revenue collections from the imports of petroleum products amount to Rs 2.20 billion.
In the period of three months, 26,320 kiloliters of petrol valued at Rs 2.32 billion were imported, followed by 13,356 kiloliters of diesel worth Rs 1.26 billion. Additionally, the imported amount of cooking gas was 6,361 metric tons of LPG amounting to Rs 620.81 million. Furthermore, 2,256 kiloliters of ATF valued at Rs 202.6 million and 420 kiloliters of kerosene worth Rs 37.9 million were imported.
