Kathmandu: Chairperson of the Federation of Nepalese Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FNCCI), Chandra Prasad Dhakal, has expressed worry over the targets made on industries during the protest. It was wrong that industries and individual property were looted, vandalized, and torched in the recent protest, he added.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Chairperson Dhakal shared his concerns while inaugurating the 59th anniversary of the Kavre district chapter of FNCCI amidst a function in Banepa. He emphasized the role of the private sector in providing employment to the youth and contributing to government revenue. Dhakal urged the State to ensure security for the private sector with appropriate policies and demanded action against those infiltrating the Gen Z protest, as the Gen Z had not intended violence.
He highlighted the operation of the Nepal Development Company with an investment of Rs 10 billion, aiming to demonstrate that mega projects can be realized through domestic capital mobilization. This initiative, led by the FNCCI, is expected to encourage aspiring investors for capital formation and mobilization to significantly expand the industrial sector. Dhakal mentioned that this venture would counter negative narratives in Nepal and help industrialists invest.
During the event, Mayor of Panchkhal municipality, Mahesh Kharel, also expressed disappointment over the challenges faced by industrialists following the recent protest.
Chairperson of FNCCI, Kavre, Pratap Vaidya, noted that entrepreneurs in commercial towns of Kavre district like Banepa, Panauti, and Dhulikhel were encountering issues due to the expansion of Araniko Highway. He suggested that a designated location is necessary for the smooth functioning of business, agriculture, and commerce. Vaidya further urged stakeholders to allocate sufficient budget to the under-construction industrial village of Mandan Deupur and the special economic zone of Panchkhal, Kavre.
